COOKHOUSE RULES AND INFORMATION

I. MEAL HOURS (Tuesday breakfast through Sunday breakfast)

ADULTS CHILDREN

Breakfast: 8:00 to 9:00 (out by 9:30) 8:00 to 9:00 (out by 9:30)

Lunch: 12:30 to 1:15 (out by 1:45) 12:30 to 1:15 (out by 1:45)

Dinner: 6:15 to 7:00 (out by 8:00) 6:15 to 7:00 (out by 7:00)

The cookhouse is closed Thursday noon, and after Sunday breakfast and all day through Monday. Even though closed for lunch Thursday and Sunday, picnic lunches are available, if ordered at or immediately after breakfast.

II. DINNER SITTINGS

A. All children and members preferring casual attire are asked to eat promptly at the ringing of the bell and be out of the cookhouse within three quarters of an hour after the ringing of the bell.

B. Members desiring a quieter atmosphere with dress code are encouraged to come to dinner closer to 7:00PM and be cognizant of those preferring the casual approach who may be caught in the middle.

III. PARENTS and/or SITTERS are responsible for:

A. Monitoring children’s behavior.

B. Seeing that children remain in their seats.

C. Seeing that children are reasonably quiet.

D. Cleaning up the table, chairs and surrounding floor before leaving.

IV. DRESS CODE The dress code is an important and sensitive issue to some member’s. Please try to be courteous and considerate of other member’s feelings on this issue.

A. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.

B. No bathing suits.

C. Hats are to be removed.

D. Jackets preferred for men at dinner during the later seating.

E. Long trousers are preferred for men at dinner.

F. Short shorts are not allowed at dinner.

V. KITCHEN

A. No Island Home Club member, renter or guest is allowed in the kitchen 1 hour before or during serving hours.

B. Only authorized personnel (i.e. cookhouse managers, officers, caretaker) are permitted in the cookhouse when the cook is not on the premises, unless special permission is granted by those authorized personnel or the cook.

C. Special requests such as birthday cakes should be communicated directly to the cook. Any dietary issues whether medically or lifestyle based MUST be discussed directly with the cook at least a week prior to arrival.

VI. MEAL NOTIFICATION

A. Members must notify the cook at least a week in advance of your arrival and departure dates as well as the numbers attending each meal including guests. Please use the appropriate form.

B. The Saturday count (lobster, steak, vegetarian, regular) must be received by Wednesday. Hamburger and cheeseburgers are also available for children and anyone not desiring lobster, steak or vegetarian.

C. A Hamburger or Hot Dog is available upon request for anyone desiring an alternative to the main course at any dinner.

VII. PICNIC LUNCH

A. A Picnic Lunch may be requested by filling out and submitting the picnic form, preferably, the preceding evening. Otherwise forms must be handed into the kitchen by 9 a.m.

B. Lunch will not be served in the cookhouse on Thursdays and Sunday but a picnic lunch may be requested by filling out the picnic form.

VIII. PAYMENT

A. Tally sheets will be in each cottage to assist with individual meal calculations. Please attach all checks with the Tally Sheets. Sum of each cottage’s checks must agree with balance reflected on the Tally Sheets.

B. Checks are to be made payable to the Island Home Club. C. Tally sheets and checks should be left in the envelope hanging on the bulletin board in the vestibule of the cookhouse by noon on Sunday.

IX. GENERAL POLICY

A. No alcoholic beverages in the cookhouse.

B. Promptness in arriving and leaving meals is expected.

C. Residents are expected to clear all dishes and paper supplies from their tables before leaving the cookhouse.

D. The cookhouse is an alcohol and smoke free environment.

E. Any electronic device brought into the dining hall must be silenced during meal times and calls must be taken outside.

F. All discussion of cookhouse policy, changes, or complaints should be handled only through the cookhouse manager(s), their fill in, or an officer of the club.

G. No tips are to be given to Island Home Club employees. If you desire to make a gift, please speak to one of the officers of the club. If you desire to donate something new or used please ask about our wish list.

H. Members, renters, or guests must be away from the Island for 3 consecutive meals in order to be excused from paying for uneaten meals.

1. Anyone spending the night on the Island is considered to be in residence and responsible for paying for meals served in the cookhouse whether eaten or not.

2. Any exceptions (working schedules or going to school) must be arranged in advance by written request to the cookhouse manager(s).

3. If you sign up for a meal and do not arrive and do not contact the cook within a minimum of 12 hours prior to that meal that you will not be arriving you will be responsible for paying for that meal.
